Free chipping starts on March 3
Thursday, February 28, 2008

Calfire, the Napa County Fire Department and Napa Communities Firewise Foundation will resume their free chipping program Monday, March 3.

The program is designed for residents of high fire-risk areas of the county where fire-prone vegetation has become part of the urban landscape and a danger to public safety. Last year the chipping program responded to more than 400 chipping requests, totaling nearly 60,000 cubic yards of vegetation.

To participate in the chipping program go to www.napafirewise.org and click on “Chipping Program.” For information about defensible space planning and free chipping go to the Firewise Web site or call 967-1426.
