Measure A money coming
$6 million will buy improvements to local water system

It looks like the City of Calistoga is going to get a little help with funding to bolster its watershed needs.
At the June 2 City Council meeting, the local legislators approved an amendment to the city’s funding agreement with the Napa County Flood Protection and Watershed Improvement Authority for nearly $6 million.
The money will begin to be allocated to the City of Calistoga between now and Fiscal Year 2017-2018.
The Measure A funds, approved by the voters in March 1998, will give the city the money it needs to improve flood protection, water supply reliability and the health of the Calistoga watershed.
The city’s just-completed Kimball Water Facility Improvement Project, the Mt. Washington Water Storage Tank Project, and other offsite water liability improvement projects will greatly benefit from this approved use of Measure A funding, according to a statement from the City of Calistoga City Manager’s office.
Additionally, the funding, coupled with financing from the United States Department of Agriculture, allows the city to make the water supply reliability improvements while limiting the impact to local rate payers.
