Maria Silva Rosado went to sleep in the Lord on Jan. 29, 2010. Maria was born in Oliveirinha, Aveiro, Portugal, on Dec. 8, 1939. Her parents, Antonio Marques da Silva and Gloria Vieira dos Santos, preceded her in death.
Maria came to California in 1958 to study at Lanai College in Oakland. She moved to Angwin in 1960 and attended Pacific Union College Preparatory School and Pacific Union College. There she met her husband, Othoniel Rosado, and they were married on Aug. 5,1962, in Deer Park, at the Elmshaven Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Maria Silva Rosado worked as an assistant dean of women for Pacific Union College from 1962 to 1966. In 1974, she became a migrant education aide to the Butte County Office of Education with assignment in Napa County. She taught children and was a liaison between students, parents and school. With the exception of a four-year leave of absence, she worked for migrant education for 29 years with final retirement in 2006. She enjoyed seeing her students develop their reading and literacy skills. She was a continual encouragement to migrant families.
Maria is survived by her loving husband, Othoniel, and her two precious daughters, Debra Jean Rosado-Davisson and husband Mark, and Melissa Maria Rosado; and her grandchildren, Anthony Rosado, Bryar, Cooper and Luke Davisson. She is also survived by her sister, Arminda Agra de Castro and her husband, Salvador, of Aveiro, Portugal.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 6, at the Napa Seventh-day Adventist Church at 1105 G St., (corner of Brown Street), Napa.
